It's about time! Every now and then we get lucky, and this Christmas season we're off to a great start. The first two days of December are two of the best we've seen in awhile. For you high-rollers, on Thursday December 1 there's the Grand Opening Gala Dinner ($250) of the brand spanking new Museum of the African Diaspora, the hot new museum in San Francisco adjacent to the new star-powered St. Regis Hotel.
On Friday December 2 join VIPLineup along with a host of other arts, cultural and professional organizations for the Museum of the African Diaspora's Global Groove Opening Celebration & Party ($75). Taking place at both the museum and the adjoining new St. Regis Hotel, this party will have it all...museum tours, live entertaiment, dj, international foods, exotic dancers, a cool Global Groove Lounge, dancing and of course plenty of the bubbly stuff. It's already being billed as one of the hottest museum openings in San Francisco. No rubber chicken dinner here.
U.S. Congressman Harold Ford Jr. was coming to town on Saturday December 3, albeit not quietly. The local powers that be were scheduled to hang out with him in style at The Bubble Lounge but now we'll have to wait until January. Sharp as a tack, this young rising star brings a different kind of flavor to the political scene. You want to rub elbows, chill and party with the up and coming? Watch for a new date in January.
The following week on Wednesday December 7 join the tradition of VIPLineup's kick-off of the holiday season with our annual Speakeasy Holiday Lounge ($15) at Maxwell's, featuring vocalist Lonnie Tuck belting out contemporary R&B and selections from the Luther Vandross Christmas album. Lonnie was a smash hit at our Tribute to Luther earlier this year.
